Pet Insurance Australia Companion Animal Rescue Awards 2022 Categories 1-8
  1. Information on how to enter and prizes for awards Categories (“Categories”) 1 – 8 forms part of these terms & conditions. Any entry not complying with these terms and conditions is invalid.
  2. The Promoter (“Promoter”) is Foresight Marketing and Communications Pty Ltd trading as Pets 4 Life Australia (“Pets4Life”) ABN: 25102896677.
  3. The Pet Insurance Australia Companion Animal Rescue Awards 2022 is for Rescue Groups and Animal Shelters that have a not for profit purpose, and Councils (collectively, “Rehoming organisations”) except for category 6, “Working with the Community to keep People and their Pets Together”, which is open to Rehoming organisations and other individuals and organisations who can demonstrate their purpose to help reduce animal surrender and improve outcomes for companion animals in Australia, for example, veterinary clinics who adopt out kittens, and organisations who provide crisis foster carer, support rescue groups and animal shelters with donated products and services for example.
  4. A companion animal is a pet that lives with its human family. Companion animals include but are not limited to a cat, dog, rabbit, chicken, guinea pig, ferret, and horse (“Companion Animal”). A Companion Animal is not a working animal but can be an assistance dog that is also a pet.
  5. A Rescue Group (also known as a Community Foster Care Network) is a Rehoming organisation that provides temporary care for Companion Animals from shelters, council pounds, or surrenders in people’s homes. A Rescue Group has a network of foster carers and may have an overflow facility such as a kennel or cattery to hold animals temporarily. Rescue Groups seek permanent homes for Companion Animals in their care. A Rescue Group may use a third party for example pet retailers and cafes to offer animals for adoption. A Rescue Group has a not-for-profit purpose. (“Rescue Group”)
  6. An Animal Shelter is a Rehoming organisation that takes in and cares for surrendered, lost, injured, stray, or unowned companion animals for the purpose of rehabilitation and rehoming.  A shelter is likely to be located on a single site with room to house multiple animals and must have all relevant Council permits. An Animal Shelter has a not-for-profit purpose. (“Animal Shelter”)
  7. A Council Animal Shelter (also known as a Pound) is a Rehoming organisation that adopts out animals in their care to the community.  A Council Animal Shelter takes in and cares for large numbers of surrendered, lost, injured, stray, or unowned companion animals for the purpose of rehabilitation and rehoming. The Animal Shelter is managed by Council. (“Council Animal Shelter).
  8. The industry categories 1-8 in 2022 are 1) Outstanding Rescue Group, 2) Outstanding New Rescue Group, 3) Outstanding Animal Shelter, 4) Australian Pet Welfare Foundation Award for Councils, 5) Innovation in Companion Animal Welfare and Management, 6) Working with the Community to keep People and their Pets Together; 7) Volunteer of the Year and 8) Refuel Creative Digital Marketing.
  9. The entrant is the individual who submits a nomination (“Entrant”) on behalf of a Rehoming organisation. The Entrant must be a representative of the Rehoming organisation and has sufficient knowledge of its operations.
  10. To be eligible to submit a valid entry for Categories 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 8:
    1. The Entrant must be an Australian resident 18 years or over
    2. The Rehoming organisation must have an ABN
    3. The Rehoming organisation must either be operated on a not-for-profit basis or be a Council.
    4. The Rehoming organisation must have been operational for at least 12 months as of 1 May 2022.
    5. Category 7, ‘Volunteer of the Year, the volunteer and the individual submitting the nomination must have been with the Re-homing organisation for at least 12 months as of 3 May 2022.
  11. To be eligible to submit a valid entry for Category 6, “Working with the Community to keep People and their Pets Together”:
    1. The Entrant must be an Australian resident 18 years or over
    2. The individual or organisation must be able to demonstrate their work with rehoming animals has a Not for Profit purpose or is a Council
    3. The organisation must have been operational for at least 12 months as of 3 May 2022.
  12. Entry for Categories 1-8 is by self-nomination, except for Category 7 ‘Volunteer of the Year’.
  13. Entries for multiple Categories are permitted provided that the entry satisfies the requirements of each Category in which the entry is submitted.
  14. One entry per organisation per Category for Categories 1 – 8.  Multiple entries from the one organisation for Category 7, ‘Volunteer of the Year’ are allowed.  One entry per volunteer.
  15. Previous winners are excluded from entering the same Category for three calendar years. 2018 Winners can enter the same category in 2022. Previous winners can enter another Category provided that the entry satisfied the requirements of the Category in which the entry is submitted.
  16. Entry is free.
  17. The period for acceptance of entries starts at 9 am pm Australian Eastern Standard Time (“AEST”) Tuesday, 3 May 2022, and closes at 12 am Australian Eastern Standard Time (“AEST”) on Sunday 31 July 2022 (“Awards Period”).
  18. Employees of the Promoter, the Promoter’s associated companies, the Promoter’s sponsors associated with this competition, and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
  19. Entrants must provide valid contact details to be a valid entry.
  20. Awards entry procedure: the Entrant is required to answer the questions in the online form accessible via www.rescueawards.com.au from 9 am Australian Eastern Standard Time (“AEST”) Tuesday 3 May 2022 to midnight Australian Eastern Standard Time (“AEST”) on Sunday 31 July 2022.
  21. The judging consists of two parts. Part one is a panel of judges who will assess the submissions and determine a shortlist of up to four finalists per award category. Part two is anonymous judging to validate the information supplied in the submissions. The judges select the finalists and winners.
  22. Entries will not be accepted via email.
  23. Once entries have closed at midnight Australian Eastern Standard Time (“AEST”) on Sunday, 31 July 2022, information cannot be changed or added.
  24. The decision of the judging panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into. The judging panel for categories 1 – 8 consists of 19 individuals.  Prizes will be awarded based on the ruling of the judging panel and chance plays no part in the outcome.
  25. Each entry becomes the property of the Promoter who will collect and use the Entrant’s details in accordance with its Privacy Policy. Each entry is deemed confidential. The details of the Entrant and the Rehoming organisation will NOT be shared with a third party without permission with exception of the relevant sponsors and their contractors in order to deliver the prizes.
  26. The finalists and winners may be required to engage in publicity activity by the Promoter.  The Promoter will not require any finalist or winner to engage in any publicity activity which involves the disclosure of any confidential information of any finalist or winner.
  27. The Promoter reserves the right to verify the validity of all entries and reserves the right to disqualify any individual Entrant or group of Entrants for tampering with the entry process and may require proof of contact details before awarding a prize.
  28. The finalists and winners each receive a certificate.
  29. Every valid entry for categories 1-8 receives one free membership to Vet Products Direct VPD Club valued at $64.95.  One membership per organisation.
  30. The prizes for the winning Entrant of Category 1 (Outstanding Rescue Group) contains:
    1. $1000 cash
    2. $500 RRP worth of Homeopet Anxiety product
    3. $150 worth of fuel vouchers from Pet Insurance Australia
    4. Vetafarm pack worth $400 RRP

  32. The prizes for the winning Entrant of Category 3 (Outstanding Animal Shelter) contains:

  33. The prizes for the winning Entrant of Category 4 (Australian Pet Welfare Foundation) contains:

  34. The prizes for the winning Entrant of Category 5 (Innovation in Companion Animal Welfare and Management) contains:

  35. The prizes for the winning Entrant of Category 6 (Working with the Community to keep People and their Pets Together) contains:

  36. The winner of Category 7 (Volunteer of the year) receives one year of free pet insurance (Major Medical Policy) valued at up to $2,000 for a cat or dog (one policy only) from Pet Insurance Australia. This prize must be redeemed by 31 October 2023. Not transferable or redeemed for cash. In addition, the winner receives these prizes:
    1. Vetafarm pack worth $200 RRP
    2. One $100 gift voucher from Loyalty Pet Treats
    3. One Ivory Coat prize pack RRP $250.
    4. Homeopet $150 gift card
    5. Aware Vintage Upcycle jacket valued at $95
  37. The prize for category 8, the ‘Refuel Creative Digital Marketing Award’ is a digital marketing package valued at $2,500 provided by the sponsor of this award and Gold Rescue Partner, Refuel Creative. The winner must redeem this prize by 31 October 2024.
  38. The cash donation prizes will be delivered to the winners by the Promoter except for the Australian Pet Welfare Foundation Award for Councils.
  39. The products and services prizes will be delivered to the winners by the relevant Supporters.  Pets4Life will take all necessary precautions to ensure they deliver the prizes to the winners within a suitable timeframe. Pets4Life will not take responsibility for any prize lost, damaged, or delayed by our Supporters.
  40. If we are unable to provide a winner with a prize (or part of a prize), we will endeavour to supply an alternative prize (or part of a prize) of similar monetary value. Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable and are not redeemable for cash. If a prize has not been claimed it will be distributed at our absolute discretion.
  41. The finalists will be announced on 14 September 2022 via the Pet Insurance Australia Companion Animal Rescue Awards social media and a media release. The finalists will be contacted via email or phone within 48 hours of the announcement.
  42. The winners will be announced at the Rescue Awards Ceremony in October 2022. The event will be live-streamed via the Rescue Awards Facebook page.  A media release will be distributed nationally. The winners will be contacted via email or phone within 48 hours of the announcement.
