Phoenix was in the care of local rescue group NRAS. I work as a nurse at the vet clinic where he was brought for testing after showing signs of kidney disease. Phoenix was diagnosed with PDK at approx 3 months old, and was given a life expectancy of 1-3 years. This would have made it extremely difficult to adopt him out through rescue, especially as his vet bills are extensive. With my skills and industry benefits I knew I could give him the best possible life.
Phoenix gets a specialised diet and regular IV fluids to help flush his kidneys. The difference in his weight, coat condition, and general health since adopting him is huge.
I've had him for 3 months now and, despite a severe health scare and high care costs, I don't regret taking him home at all. Best. Decision. Ever.
