Spooky came to me as a reserved and untrained 9 month old puppy. I saw her on the Facebook page and as a foster carer I got “first dibs”. At first I couldn’t work out how to reach her in our training but one day it clicked and we have been unstoppable ever since!
She showed promise with being an assistance dog and being a working breed she had the drive to work and learn. I live with disabilities and always thought an AD would be helpful but when I saw her drive and her connection with me I knew it was meant to be.
She helps me get out of the house and into the world. She gives me something to focus on and calms me down. She interrupts anxiety behaviors and de-escalates panic attacks. She is learning to find my partner when I need help. She has changed my life for the better. And I am so thankful for her. She will work for as long as she enjoys it and has the drive, then she will have a retirement home with me for life!
