We adopted TWO pets last year – Banjo (dog) and Sam (cat). Sam had a rough start to life – he was neglected, malnourished, and abandoned 2 days before Christmas in a pound. There’s a heartbreaking photo of him lying in his own litter box, scared, lonely, wondering what was going to happen to him.
We weren’t sure what to expect, introducing a 2.5 year old cat to a 7 month old puppy, but we had a good feeling from the moment they met. Banjo has helped Sam come out of his shell, and they’re now best buds! I could never have predicted how close they’d become, and it’s brought me so much joy to see them grow together.
Banjo is boisterous and loves to play rough but has learned to be gentle with Sam. Sam has also learned to stick up for himself and hold his ground. Two little rescue pets that couldn’t be more different have slowly found a way to communicate with each other and get along-they even share the same bed!
They provide endless entertainment, but also lots of teachable moments. I could write a whole book on the lessons I learn every day from them.
