Twiga ('Giraffe' in Swahilli) lost his beloved big sister Mia to cancer in February. She nurtured and protected him since he joined our home mid 2020 from Newcastle AllPaws Pet Rescue. He was bereft and lonely (as was I) so the search began for a furry-friend.
Yagoona RSPCA had a 5 year old kelpie who was ready to find his fur-ever home after several months with a foster carer. He was gentle but anxious, and in need of a furry friend and loving home. Rafiki ('Friend' in Swahilli) interacted so well with Twiga at his meet&greet in ways that surprised his foster carer.
Every experience has been new for Rafiki (aka 'Raffle') eg dog walks & parks, pedestrian bridges & trains, car trips to the beach, waves & water, icecream (his favourite), blueberries & carrots. Twiga (aka'Twiggles') has been supportive, with playful games and warm snuggles in equal quantities. Chelsea (cat) is still working on the ‘terms of friendship’.
Twiga & I miss Mia, but I know she would have loved Raffles as much as we do. She was a RSCPA puppy so her best legacy is having her place in a loving home filled by another.
