My daughter who has been diagnosed with autism and severe anxiety had been begging for a therapy dog, however with the wait time and expense to get one, we would never have been able to accommodate this request. Missy walked into our home last July, locked foreheads with my daughter with a gentle understanding that she would be there for her unconditionally from that moment on. Missy is now about to become trained to attend schools as part of the Story Dog program so she can bring calm to other kids as they become more confident. Missy has obviously been mistreated before she came to us and gradually we have seen her become less anxious. However, she is the one who has transformed our hearts and home, not the other way around.
