Nine years ago I was looking for a younger companion for my older rescue dog. Most of the other dogs at the home jumped up and wagged their tails and vied for our attention, but Luna (then Honey) cowered in a corner & wouldn't even make eye contact. We were told she was the victim of a domestic violence household and had already been returned to the home 3 times by prospective owners because of aggressive behaviour issues. We took a chance on her and worked long & hard to gain her trust and eventually made her the happy dog she is today. She in turn taught us patience and compassion and the knowledge that love and understanding conquers all. Rescue continues to be my favourite breed.
