Lucy was 6 & 1/2 when she came to her furever home with us. Her coat was so matted the RSPCA had shaved her and she had sore bald patches the size of 50c pieces all over, chronic ear infection and chronic eye infection, impacted anal glands, claws so long she could hardly walk. She was aggressive with our cat and other dogs we met on walks, forgot her house training and cost a fortune at the vet the first few years. She is now 17yrs and 8mths, going deaf and blind but unbelievably beautiful and loving, patient to my 3yr old 'energiser bunny' poodle and her 7yr old energiser mum, loves her 'walks' in the doggy pram, sleeps cuddled next to me in bed and is adored by all. She also took out Best Mature at the last 'Poodles in the Park' which made me cry as you wouldn't have thought she would win Best Anything when she first came to live with us! I lost my husband 3 and a half yrs ago and Lucy, and her late poodle stepsister, who I lost in 2020, were the only things that got me through his illness and death.
