Being a unique breed such as an Old English Sheepdog, you would never imagine someone surrendering it after 8 years, let alone at Christmas time, right? Fortunately for us, that was the case! As an RSPCA Kennels volunteer, I was greeted by an energetic and bounding sheepdog when I was spending some time with him. He just loved the attention! When I took him for a walk, he shook my hands with his paw. It was then, that I felt a real bond to him, thinking "that's really adorable and clever". In his profile, he was owner surrendered and was admitted into RSPCA 6 weeks earlier, severely neglected with smelly, matted fur and hundreds of grass seeds embedded within him. Someone even likened him to “a brown poodle”. Now, being 6 months after adoption, you wouldn't have thought he's a rescue dog with all the love, cuddles, play and affection! We re-named him Fang as his original “Dulux” name doesn’t register with him, which after 8 years, is appalling. Fang is now fluffy and healthy, bringing great happiness and joy to our lives and we don’t regret the decision knowing he has a much better quality of life now!
