When we first met him, Dougal was a quiet, scared little dog, who stared at us in fear from the back of his cage. The lovely SADS staff allowed us to spend some time in a yard with him, where, although he would not let us touch him, he began to play with us. We were able to see his cheeky, intelligent side, and we fell in love.
In the five years since, with lots of patience on both sides, he has gone from being terrified of new people, to an absolute social butterfly. He cuddles up to our friends and watches over our baby daughter, with the added bonus of cleaning up the food she drops!
He motivated me to pursue and secure my dream career in veterinary nursing, and is a constant light in my life when stress becomes too much. We worked hard together to overcome our challenges and build our relationship, and now we couldn't imagine our family without him.
