I was 16 when I saw Dobby, who we believe to be greyhound x kelpie, on the pet rescue page. I was in the middle of my school exams but I still managed to convince dad to take me to go see him. We adopted him that day, I saw my best mate in him. Dobby had been abused by his previous owner and surrounded to the pound to be euthanised, and at around only 8 months old was skinny, didn’t know how to play with toys, and was terrified of all and any banging, door slamming, and yelling noises. As in you’d find him hiding in your closet. At the time he didn’t like water and the rescue didn’t think he’d ever be able to be an off leash dog.
Fast forward almost 3 years later and with a lot of training, Dobby has turned in the perfect dog and my best mate. He comes on every camping trip, loves the beach, is always up for a hike, and makes friends everywhere he goes. Dobby is the most loyal dog I have ever met, despite not having him since a puppy, wherever I go Dobby is always close behind.
