We adopted Diesel from Red Collar Rescue on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland in 2010. At that time he was a 12 month old pup who had been either beaten or dumped, with scars all over him and no pads left on his paws. He was very timid and smelled terrible due to a yeast infection in his ear and a rash on his skin. He cowered at the shake of a plastic bag, or the lifting of a broom. It broke our hearts. He came to us and we just made him feel safe and loved every opportunity we had. He soon became a strong and loyal protector who still had the saddest eyes. We knew he loved us, but it took a long time for him to trust us. He has had his share of injuries and ailments in the 12 years he has been part of our family. Some due to separation anxiety, some due to old injuries sustained before we found him. He brings us so much joy we cannot imagine our lives without him. He is, and always will be very loved.
