Our beautiful boy came into our lives as a temporary foster. He was an 11 year, 40kg rotti x. We agreed to take him for the weekend so he could leave the regional pound he had wound up in. On arrival Buffy sat quiet and sad, not leaving his bed except for his meals. We began to coax him into the lounge room and started to socialise him. When we put him up for adoption it became apparent that there was not a great demand for large, old dogs. We searched for the perfect, quiet retirement home. It turned out he knew that he had already found it – here, with us. Watching him settle in and grow in confidence was one of the most joyous journeys I have been on. He aced doggy school, made new friends, loved camping, the car, walkies, the beach and just LOVED my husband more than anything else in his world. We lost Buffy to cancer just two years later. We were heartbroken but at least we could be with him through every step of his last journey. He taught us so much and bought far more than 40kg of love into our world.
