Katie of Western Australia shares her story.
An unnamed kitten was brought into a vet and no owner was found. Perth Rescue Angels took the kitten into their care and I became her foster carer.
She was clearly deformed and we all thought it was a cleft palate. Though she also walked funny and was a little distrusting of humans. The vet told us; she had been badly abused, no cleft palate – instead extensive injuries including broken legs, broken teeth, misaligned jaw and nose, badly injured ears – the list went on. Her scars show in her mannerisms and her beautiful little face, everything is a little off centre.
She has transformed into the most wonderful cat and has gained confidence and trust, she now has a 5 other special needs kitty friends and little dogs and bunnies that she calls family, they have a social media account that has fans across the world – sharing the story of rescue and compassion daily.
I immediately adopted her of course, and no other name suited her better than Fancy. And Fancy she is.
This story was a Finalist in the 2018 Advocate® People’s Rescue Story award. This special award is for Aussie pet guardians who have adopted or fostered a companion animal (pet).
