I am grateful to have rescued Leo but I think it was he who rescued me. When I adopted him he was bold down his back & tail from flea dermatitis. Within months we had him back strong, happy, and healthy. He was then trained up to become an assistance dog with the Young Diggers Dog Squad who helps veterans with PTSD. He gave me back my life and independence. His support allowed me to leave my house, he helped ground me in distress & he saved my life on multiple occasions. I would not be alive today without the assistance Leo has given me. Leo retired from assistance dog work earlier this year but our bond is unchangingly strong. I would love to be considered for this prize as I would love to give some extra loving in his retirement. Thank you for reading our story.
