Congratulations Ann and Marilyn!
The megawatt smile should have been enough to get Marilyn adopted in a flash but after 2½ years and having her 2 sisters find their forever homes, the deaf and blind Mastiff was still waiting.
Hear No Evil never gave up and her long wait came to an end when we were able to adopt this wonderful girl into our lives. We thought we’d be helping Marilyn but it’s turned out that in the time we’ve been together, Marilyn has enriched our lives and exposed us to opportunities we never knew existed. We have become lifelong friends and supporters of Hear No Evil, made a dog-friendly sensory garden, investigated alternative training methods and opportunities for our girl and been inspired to learn Auslan.
Marilyn has taught us about the importance of inclusiveness and diversity and we hope to have Marilyn accredited as a therapy dog so that she has the opportunity to show the community what she has shown us. That none of us, either on four legs or two, can be defined by disability. Marilyn is defined by her capacity for love and her generosity of spirit.
Ann’s nominated rescue organisation is Hear No Evil.
